"Golf Digest"
called it the best new private golf course
of 1997. The scenic 18-hole course in the
Colorado foothills south of Denver offers
a unique fund-raising opportunity for charities
and unforgettable rounds for golfers. It's
Sanctuary, an invitation-only golf course
conceived and owned by RE/MAX Co-Founders
Dave and Gail Liniger.
As its name implies,
Sanctuary is a place apart. Covering 65
acres, with nearly 24 acres of fairways,
the course is shaped out of wooded hills,
with spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains.
The serene area remains a home for wildlife,
including elk, foxes, coyotes, black bears,
porcupines, wild turkeys and golden eagles.
Native grasses have been reseeded and border
the lush fairways, maintaining a delicate
ecological balance.
RE/MAX is the
title sponsor of 15 to 20 charity
tournaments at the course annually.
The charities range from local hospitals
to the American Diabetes Association and
the Make-A-Wish Foundation. In Sanctuary's
first three years, tournaments for worthy
causes raised $5 million, and the course's
charity schedule for 2000 features 18 events.
"Sanctuary is
about helping other people," Carolynn Bond,
Children's Miracle Network Liaison/Community
Affairs Director for RE/MAX International,
has said. "And its positive impact - for
the community as well as for RE/MAX - goes
far beyond Denver or even Colorado. It's
a very special place where very special
things happen."
Nonprofit organizations
interested in holding a charity golf tournament
at Sanctuary should contact Carolynn
Bond by e-mail or telephone (303-770-5531).
Charity foursome auctions are also available.
