(San
Francisco, Calif., Nov., 2000)
-- Two members of the RE/MAX real estate franchise
network were installed as presidents during
the National Association of Realtors (NAR) Convention.
Incoming president of the association is Richard
Mendenhall, broker/owner of two RE/MAX offices
in Columbia, and Jefferson City, MO. The NAR
is America's largest trade association, representing
more than 760,000 members involved in all aspects
of the residential and commercial real estate
industries. Mendenhall, who has been active
with local, state and national Realtor programs
and committees since 1977, is the first RE/MAX
member and only the second franchise member
to serve in the top position of NAR. A fifth
generation Realtor, he joined RE/MAX in 1991
and was named RE/MAX International Multi-Office
Broker/Owner of the Year for 1995.
Also
inducted as a president was Brad Hanks, vice
president of commercial development at RE/MAX
International in Denver. Hanks will serve as
head of the Real Estate Brokerage Managers Council,
the professional organization for brokerage
management of the Realtors National Marketing
Institute, an affiliate of the National Association
of Realtors. The Council is dedicated to providing
quality professional development programs, information
and services that continually enhance the management
productivity of its more than 7,000 members.
The Council awards the CRB (Certified Real Estate
Brokerage Manager) Designation to those individuals
who successfully complete the requirements and
demonstrate excellence and expertise in real
estate brokerage management. Only 5,727 of the
760,000 NAR members hold this coveted designation.
Hanks, an active Realtor for 10 years, has been
involved in management since 1990, and has been
a member of the Council since 1992.
"We
are proud of both of these men," said Daryl
Jesperson, president of RE/MAX International.
"Most people have no concept of the dedication
and time required to serve in the various positions
of associations. From the local Board of Realtors
committees all the way up to the national offices,
literally thousands of hours per week are devoted
to making the industry better. We salute those
willing to make the sacrifices necessary to
fill these offices effectively."
