(Greenwood Village,
Colo., Sept. 26, 2000) RE/MAX contributions
to Childrens' Miracle Network (CMN) for the 1999-2000
year have exceeded $4.5 million, exceeding last
year's total of $4.3 million. RE/MAX members have
contributed more than $27.2 million since 1992
when CMN was selected by RE/MAX members as the
network's primary charity cause. The 2000 CMN
Champions telecast on June 3 and 4 from Walt Disney
World Resort, Orlando, Fla. was the highlight
of fund raising.
"The CMN telecast has
reached more than 103 million households each
year for the past 5 years and has raised over
$1.8 Billion since 1983 to help more than 14 million
kids," said Carolynn Bond, CMN Director for RE/MAX
International, Inc.
Co-hosts Marie Osmond
and John Schneider were joined this year by San
Francisco 49er quarterback, Steve Young, Olympic
gold medalist Mary Lou Retton, ABC and ESPN sports
reporter, Robin Roberts, and ESPN sports anchor,
Dan Patrick.
In addition to All-Star
sporting events, the 21-hour broadcast featured
performances by Bill Cosby, 'N Sync, Boyz II Men,
SHeDAISY, Amy Grant, Styx, 98 Degrees, Britney
Spears, LeAnn Rimes and many others.
"This is wonderful
news," Bond added. However, most people are not
aware that RE/MAX associates across North America
are already contributing and raising money for
the 2001 telecast. This is a project for which
RE/MAX members not only raise money and make personal
financial contributions -- they truly put their
hearts into it. Thousands of them diligently work
throughout the year at local events raising money
for something in which they truly believe. This
is a 12 month, ’round-the-clock effort by people
who are dedicated to helping children. Each year
the creativity and sensitivity of RE/MAX Associates
as well as their selfless efforts toward this
worthy cause amaze us. For many it has become
a truly personal crusade for the children in their
communities. We are very proud of all our RE/MAX
family members and their tireless work in the
RE/MAX - CMN partnership."
Children’s Miracle Network
is an international non-profit organization whose
mission is to generate funds and awareness programs
to benefit children and 170 associated children’s
hospitals in North America. Each year, CMN affiliated
hospitals treat more than 14 million children
with injuries and illnesses of every kind. They
pride themselves on treating the whole child,
and render care regardless of a family’s ability
to pay. CMN’s hallmark is that 100 percent of
locally generated donations stay in the community
in which they were made to benefit participating
hospitals
